Measuring the water contents of the materials in the silos and in the concrete in the mixer is crucial for good and uniform mixing.
The best method is to measure the free moisture in the aggregate bins with the materials that have the largest free moisture fluctuations (typically sand). By determining the free moisture accurately, a good and professional control system can calculate the correct amount of materials needed and automatically adjust the batched amount of water. The moisture sensor in the mixer is used to adjust for any final deviation in the free moisture.
In Haarup's standard systems, microwave sensors are used.
Haarup's moisture sensors are fitted with extra hardened steel wearing rings so the wear and tear on the sensor matches that of the wear-resistant bottom wearing plates in Haarup's mixers.
